In 1974 Honda introduced the ingeniously simple Civic CVCC.

This article was written as a result of Ray Gregg doing
a test drive when Romy Hammes Dealership acquired the franchise.
He was an excellent business and automotive writer and the South Bend
Tribune was fortunate. He also like to test drive various vehicles as it afforded
him transporation for at least several days. Considering the Tribunes wages he
could use the test drives. You'll notice that Romy Hammes Dealership was never
mentioned in the article because the Tribune would consider that as advertising therefore cutting back on dealership advertising.
